Most plastering ends with decorating. New plaster needs time to dry and a proper mist coat before paint, and getting that wrong is the most common cause of peeling and patchy finishes. We plan both stages together, so the plaster is left right for paint and the decorating follows on schedule.
We work across Cardiff, from Victorian terraces in Roath and Canton to new builds in Pontprennau, and we’re based on Newport Road in CF24.

How long before I can paint new plaster?
It depends on the thickness of the plaster, the temperature and ventilation, but a skim coat usually needs at least a week or two to dry. It should be an even, light colour all over before the mist coat goes on. We’ll advise on timing for your job.
Can you plaster over artex?
Usually, yes. Once we’ve checked the surface is sound, artex can be skimmed over for a smooth, flat finish. With older artex, skimming over it is generally a safer approach than scraping it off.
Can you decorate after plastering?
Yes, that’s our main trade. We can quote for plastering and decorating together and schedule the painting once the plaster is ready.
